"The Neighborhood Historian:" Sandra Hagler and Her Role in Reshaping Junaluska

Every community has its own history that helps shape its identity. Unfortunately for many minoritized communities, their history is unknown to the wider public, but progress has been made. Sandra (Sandy) Hagler and her contributions to the Junaluska community serve as a role model for uncovering the past in underrepresented communities. From nurse to the “neighborhood historian,” Sandy Hagler lived a life of service for the community she called home. Her work as a founder of the JHA and researching the history of Junaluska brought more positive attention to the Junaluska community.
